Hello!
We are George and Holly Bardzel, and we hope to adopt a child.
We have dreams of bed time stories, trips to the park, chasing
butterflies and discovering all the firsts life has to offer. We
understand you are considering adoption, and we respect and
admire your decision to do what you feel is best for you and
your child.
About us…
We met each other many years ago while taking martial arts
classes. We began to practice and train with mutual friends.
There were many times we would travel together and with others
to attend martial arts tournaments. We found we were very
compatible. We both have a good sense of humor, and we are
both grounded, but not so much that we don’t dream about what
Why we want to adopt…
We knew we wanted to have a family but, we chose to wait until we had a home. We bought our first home five years ago, but we have not been able to get pregnant. Rather than going through fertility treatments, we opened our hearts to adoption. We feel strongly it’s not a matter of loving a biological child, it’s loving a child. We have a lot of love between us and we want to share this with a child. We want to experience noisy toys, sleepless nights, bed-time stories, jumping in piles of leaves, and all the joys, laughter, tears, and hopes parenthood offers, and in return give lots of love, support, understanding, laughter, and hopes that our child can become anything they desire to be. Your baby will be welcomed with love filled hearts and arms by our entire families and circle of friends! We have been showered with positive reactions and support from friends and family members. We are so happy with the prayers and blessings given to us.
About George…
Holly: “George works at Home Depot handling incoming freight. He has a passion for knowledge and learning. He is very intelligent and loves to read. George also loves classic cars and fishing, and is truly happy with any outdoor activity. George shares all household responsibilities with me. He is a wonderful cook, does laundry, cleans and yard work. He has a true sense of partnership.
George is going to be a fantastic dad! He is energetic with a great sense of humor. He loves to joke around but has a serious side too where he shows great compassion and understanding. George has already been talking about fishing trips and camping trips with our child. He taught his niece Ally and nephew Kyle to fish for the first time. George is a strong advocate for harnessing and nurturing a child’s potential. I can’t wait until we are able to adopt a child to see George as the dad I envision him to be.”
About Holly…
“Holly has worked in the optical field for seventeen years. She is a retail manager, but also performs the duties of an optician (the part she likes best). She fits and dispenses eyewear and does analysis of the prescriptions given by the doctors. Holly loves to walk, spend time outdoors, and go camping. She spends her free time painting, listening to music, and reading. Holly is warm, friendly, compassionate, and will always help a friend in need or just be there to listen. Holly will be the mom that a child can say anything to, and know that no matter what, she will always love them and be there. Holly is a verbal person who believes in open communication and in accepting everyone for who they are. She is going to be a fantastic mom!”
Daycare…
With our current working schedules, either George or Holly will be home everyday with our child with the possible exception of a few hours two days a week. We have friends and family to care for our child for the few hours each week that we will need a sitter. We have discussed with friends who have young children about having organized play groups. We feel that developing social skills by being with other children is important.
Our home…
We live in a three-bedroom bi-level home that sits on three acres of land in northeast Pennsylvania. We have a beautiful yard with an in-ground pool surrounded by a chain-link fence. We entertain our friends and families with swimming parties and cookouts. We have a nice neighborhood full of wonderful families with children of all ages. Our neighbors are very friendly, and we help each other as needed and get together for barbecues. Our neighborhood is clean, safe and quiet. We live near two major state parks that have playgrounds, hiking trails, and fishing areas. We love living here. It is a wonderful place to raise children.
Our dog, Bailey…
Bailey is our big lovable lab-mix dog that we rescued from the humane society. He loves to play with our nephew Andy. They run around the house, and Andy will throw toys and Bailey will go get them, however, it is no guarantee he will bring them back. Bailey likes you to chase him to get the toy back. We take Bailey to parks frequently year round. We have no hesitation taking Bailey for a walk in the middle of a snowstorm. Bailey runs and goes head first into the snow piles. He loves the snow. Bailey is friendly and loves to be with people. We know he will be a great companion for our children someday.
Our fun times…
We spend a lot of time with our friends and family doing things we love. We love the beach and take family vacations to places like Rehobeth Beach in Delaware and Cape May in New Jersey. We have even spent many family vacations here at our own home. It’s not where you go that matters, it’s who you are with that counts! Everyone would pack their bags and load up the car and drive to “Bardzel Hotel and Resort” for a week or two of R&R. We live in a vacation type environment with much to do. We go horseback riding, hiking, shopping, miniature golfing, and dining out.
We love to attend the local fairs in the summer and fall with our friends and their children. There are rides, crafts, art work for sale, agricultural themes, and of course greasy fried foods that we all love to eat! We also enjoy camping with friends or just the two of us.
Our families and friends…
Family and friends have always been important and has always been held with high regards and priority in our life. Holidays and special occasions are favorite times to spend with friends and family. Any occasion with cookies and rigatoni are the best! Christmas is a time we go to church, have dinner, and exchange gifts. We visit as many family and friends as we can on Christmas Day. We make every attempt to celebrate birthdays together, even if that means grouping a bunch of birthdays together for one big celebration!
George’s sister Marie and brother Chris live in Washington State, and we see each other every year. Marie has a daughter, Hannah, who still lives at home, and a son Jeremy, who is now married to a great girl named Georgia. Chris is married to Martha (we call her Marty), and they have a daughter, Angela, who is grown up and on her own. Charmaine is George’s other sister and she lives nearby with her two children Kyle and Ally. Charmaine loves to cook and bake and we frequently have dinner together. We use to care for Kyle around the clock when he was young while his mom worked a swing shift. We would cook meals, help him with home work, drive him to karate classes, host sleepovers with his friends, and take him and his friends out for pizza or to parks to run and play. We are looking forward to doing it all over again with our children.
We have been long time friends of Cindy and Tom they have three children Devin, Shamus (our Godson), and Sean. We get together on holidays and have gone on camping trips and to amusement parks together. They are like our extended family. Most of our friends have children with the exception of one or two. We spend time over Lynn and Vince’s home, visiting and playing with their two children Victoria (4) and Vincent Jr. (few months old). Lynn and the children came to our home for the day, and while Lynn and Holly went to get the pizza Victoria stayed with George. Upon returning, Victoria excitedly ran to her mom saying she was Dora the Explorer. George took her on an adventure outside to discover things. She told us about a toad and a rabbit’s nest. George and Victoria never left the back yard but Victoria thought she was gone on a long journey. We look forward to discovering the back yard with our child, and to the child it will be the world. This is what makes it great.
Our faith…
We were both raised Catholic and now practice the Methodist faith. We are members of the Sterling United Methodist Church, and occasionally attend church with Holly’s mom at her church, the Elm Park Methodist Church. We enjoy going there since it is the church in which we were married. We do believe and have faith in God and his son Jesus Christ. We believe to have faith in God is more than believing, it involves action. We respect others and ourselves, and we accept those for who they are and not who we believe they should be. We try to be good to people, be true to ourselves and to others, to live Christian lives all seven days of the week and not just on Sundays. We don’t believe in being critical or judgmental, and we believe truth, integrity, standing for what you believe in, combined with solid values is what is most important. When you take it into your heart, it is easy to apply to all aspects of your life. We will guide our children through life with these values.
Open adoption…
We have a first-hand outlook on adoption in our family. When George’s sister Marie was a young girl, she became pregnant and chose adoption. It was a closed adoption because that’s how it was done back then. Marie’s birthson Louis found and contacted Marie when he was 19. George’s family was thrilled to hear from him. Louis’ adoptive parents are wonderful and were supportive of Louis finding his birthfamily. We were all invited to their home to meet them. After getting to know Louis, we found he loves to go fishing, he studied martial arts, and has an interest in muscle cars, just like Uncle George! We find it fascinating to have a child we can wonder “where did that come from?” It’s like opening a present everyday of your life. Marie wondered everyday of her life if she made the right decision and if her child was truly happy. Now, knowing he was, she believes it was the right choice. We never want you to wonder everyday of your life. We want to send you pictures and letters of your child as he/she grows. The reason we will have a child is because his/her mom loved him/her more than she could ever imagine loving another human being. We will have a child because his mom was unselfish and wanted to do what she thought was best for her baby. Your child will always know of your deep love and sacrifice.
